A recently released contract solicitation is looking for a small business to develop online and in-person courses that will ensure that military personnel are "properly certified and skilled on cyber security."
Among the courses the winner will need to develop are the fairly generic-sounding "Network Traffic Analysis," "Cyber Threat Detection and Mitigation," and "Reverse Engineering Malware." There are also more curious courses, including "Advanced Digital Media Forensics" and "Advanced Adversary Tactics." Classes should also cover software like Metasploit Pro, which performs network penetration tests, and Cobalt Strike, for emulating threats.
The new contract is part of an overall increase in US military spending on cyber security.
